Pleased to announce our affilated law practice, Environmental General Counsel, has been recognized by Chambers & Partners for its environmental law practice in California, effective April 10, 2025.

Compliance with the EPR Programs is a journey that starts with understanding whether your company is a producer and for what materials, based on each state's program, your company's position in the supply chain, and the sales pathways for different covered materials. From there, your company must create a list of covered materials for which your company is responsible that corresponds to the categories of covered materials developed in each state, and identify the volume and/or weight of covered materials for each category, using data collection methods acceptable to the Producer Responsibility Organization (PRO).
EPR Group can help you with each step of this journey.
Beyond EPR
EPR Group provides
other related services, including truth in labeling restrictions, PCR requirements and
third-party certifications, toxics in packaging restrictions, and other sustainability issues.

Monitoring Developments
Staying informed about developments in the state programs is critical. It is a complicated landscape and rapidly evolving. EPR Group has been engaged with the EPR programs for years and can provide periodic and customized updates for your company, track targeted issues, or provide notes about regulatory workshops and PRO meetings for registered clients.

Ongoing Support
EPR Group can provide ongoing support for your company as requested on a wide range of issues, from recommendations for a forward-looking packaging compliance strategy, flagging of key regulatory and compliance issues from the Producer Responsibility Organization, communications regarding questions or strategic decisions, or referrals for technical needs.

Management and C Suite Briefings
The EPR landscape is complicated and may require management level decisions about various issues, including budget approval or strategic planning. We can help with the decision-making process by providing succinct but informative briefings - in a format of your choice - about highly complex issues designed to facilitate informed decision-making. Materials can be used for internal briefings or for EPR Group briefings.

Producer Obligation Matrix
The Producer Obligation Matrix (POM) is based on the conclusions in the PPE Report as to your producer status and potential exemption or exclusions that may apply. The POM provides a conclusion of obligation or exemption/exclusion across your company’s sales pathways for each state and enables your company to identify fee obligations while avoiding paying fees for material for which your company is not obligated.

Categorization of Data
Categorization of data can be challenging as each state's list of covered materials is different and specific to a particular type of covered material. Where you have questions, CAA may be able to assist; however, EPR Group is also available for support and can refer you to companies who can assist with the collection and organization of data.

Sustainability Scoping Report
Regulatory requirements continue to develop globally across a range of sustainability issues on almost a weekly basis. Based on your company's industry and specific needs, EPR Group can prepare a Sustainability Scoping Report to help identify the issues impacting your company and equip your company to decide which issues to prioritize or analyze further.

Corporate Training
EPR compliance engages many employees within the different functions of a company. The most successful companies develop a cross-functional team for EPR compliance, including sustainability, government affairs, the packaging procurement and engineering teams, marketing, legal, and finance.
EPR Group provides bespoke in-person or remote training for your company to ensure your company’s team is prepared for compliance and strategic planning.
